Dhuri’s Cinema Road Set to Glow as LED Streetlights Transform Cityscape

huri to Emerge as a Well-Lit, Modern City Hub: Dalvir Singh Dhillon

Dhuri/Sangrur, December 19:

Reinforcing the Punjab Government’s commitment to modern urban infrastructure, development works are progressing at a swift pace in Dhuri, the Assembly constituency of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. As part of this sustained development momentum, the city’s most prominent and commercially vibrant internal road—popularly known as Cinema Road—is being upgraded with LED street lighting, with the installation work currently underway at a war footing.

Chairman Punjab Small Scale Industries and Export Corporation, Dalvir Singh Dhillon, said that under this ambitious project, 116 modern LED street lights are being installed on Cinema Road at an estimated cost of ₹41 lakh. He noted that the enhanced illumination will significantly improve night-time visibility, ensure safer movement for pedestrians and vehicles, and lend a renewed aesthetic appeal to this key commercial corridor. Emphasizing the economic importance of the road, he said that Cinema Road serves as a central hub of trade and business activities. The project, he added, is slated for completion within the next 20 days.

Highlighting the broader efforts to strengthen urban amenities, Dalvir Singh Dhillon informed that over the past two years, the Municipal Council, Dhuri, has carried out a comprehensive upgrade of the city’s street lighting network. During this period, about 3,550 conventional bulbs have been replaced with energy-efficient LED street lights across various localities of the city at a cost of approximately ₹65 lakh. In addition, around 2,000 bulbs have been installed in the outer areas of Dhuri to ensure that residents beyond the Municipal Council limits also benefit from improved lighting facilities.

He stated that these sustained initiatives have resulted in nearly 95 percent of the Municipal Council area being fully illuminated during night hours. Besides enhancing public convenience, the improved lighting infrastructure is expected to play a vital role in crime prevention and significantly contribute to the overall cleanliness and visual appeal of the city.

Reiterating the government’s resolve, Dalvir Singh Dhillon affirmed that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is firmly committed to the all-round development of the Dhuri Assembly constituency. He assured that no stone would be left unturned in accelerating development works and that more people-centric, infrastructure-driven projects would continue to be implemented across the city and the constituency in the coming days. only alter headline in NYT style
