Giving a new direction to Punjab’s dairy and agricultural economy, the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government has inaugurated a ₹300 crore animal feed plant built by Cargil Company at the Wazirabad Industrial Park in Mandi Gobindgarh. It is said to be the largest of its kind in South Asia. The inauguration of this mega project is considered a significant industrial milestone ahead of the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit 2026, reflecting the growing confidence of global investors in Punjab.

This state-of-the-art plant will strengthen Punjab’s agro-industrial infrastructure, generate employment opportunities, and directly benefit farmers by increasing milk production and dairy productivity. The project reflects the state government’s resolve to accelerate industrial development, enhance agro-processing capacity, and build a ‘Rangla Punjab’ through sustainable investment and policy development.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Established with an investment of Rs. 300 crore, this plant is a testament to the Punjab government’s commitment to industrial development and providing facilities to investors. This state-of-the-art plant of Cargil Private Limited has commenced operations at the Wazirabad Industrial Park in Mandi Gobindgarh. The ‘Invest Punjab‘ initiative is attracting significant industrial investment into the state. Such investments are creating new employment opportunities for youth and accelerating Punjab’s overall economic development.”

The Chief Minister further stated that the growing investor confidence indicates that Punjab is becoming a preferred destination for investment, especially in the agriculture and food processing sectors. He added, “The Punjab Government is fully committed to providing all possible support and ensuring a business-friendly environment through progressive policies and a conducive environment for industries.”

Highlighting the size of the project, the Chief Minister said that this Kargil plant, spread over an area of ​​more than 15 acres, has an annual production capacity of 4.5 lakh metric tonnes and is the largest animal feed plant in South Asia.

The Chief Minister said that this is Kargil’s second major unit in Punjab after Bathinda, which will further strengthen the state’s agro-industrial chain. He said, “This project will directly benefit farmers by ensuring local availability of high-quality animal feed, thereby increasing milk production, quality, and farmers’ income. The scientifically developed feed will enhance animal health and productivity, taking Punjab’s dairy sector to new heights.”

Sharing the video on his X handle, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “South Asia’s largest Kargil cattle feed plant, built at a cost of Rs 300 crore, has been inaugurated in Wazirabad (Mandi Gobindgarh). This project will increase the income of our dairy farmers and create hundreds of new employment opportunities for the youth of Punjab. This is a significant achievement of our government in the industrial sector ahead of the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit 2026. We are fully committed to realizing the dream of ‘Rangla Punjab’.”
