MP Thanks Railway Minister
Terms Fulfillment of Long-standing Demand for High-Speed Train at Barnala a Victory for the Entire Constituency
Barnala, December 17:
Aam Aadmi Party Member of Parliament from Sangrur, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, has welcomed the decision to provide a stoppage for the newly launched Vande Bharat Express running between New Delhi and Firozpur Cantonment at Barnala, describing it as a “better late than never” decision.
Meet Hayer thanked Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu for accepting the long-pending demand of the people of Barnala and taking this positive decision during the Winter Session of Parliament. He said the residents of Barnala had long been demanding the stoppage of the high-speed train, and the Union Government had finally taken the corrective step.
The AAP MP stated that when the Vande Bharat train was initially started, Barnala was not included as a stoppage. He met the Union Minister and raised the demand during the Winter Session of Parliament, persistently pressing for it in a democratic manner throughout the session. He said these continuous efforts have now borne fruit. He also expressed gratitude to Rajya Sabha Member Rajinder Gupta for his efforts and lauded the struggle of the people of Barnala.
Meet Hayer said that with the train now halting at the Barnala Railway Station, hundreds of villages and nearby towns will benefit, as the area will gain direct connectivity with the national capital. He added that the long-standing demand of Barnala residents for a high-speed train has now been fulfilled—an issue he had been raising consistently in Parliament for the past one and a half years.
