Chandigarh, December 18
The Haryana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has approved the creation of Hansi as the 23rd district of the state. The decision marks a major administrative reorganization aimed at improving governance and public service delivery in the region.
The newly proposed Hansi district will comprise 110 villages from the Hansi and Narnaund Assembly Constituencies, which are currently part of Hisar district. The formation of the new district follows recommendations made by the State Re-organization Committee, headed by Development & Panchayats Minister Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar, in its meeting held on December 9, 2025. The recommendation was subsequently approved by the Chief Minister.
The proposed Hansi district will include two sub-divisions—Hansi and Narnaund—carved out of the existing Hisar district. It will have three tehsils (Hansi, Narnaund, and Bass), one sub-tehsil (Kheri Jalab), and three administrative blocks (Hansi-1, Hansi-2, and Narnaund).
Covering a total geographical area of approximately 1,34,976 hectares and housing an estimated population of about 5,40,994 people, the newly created Hansi district aims to ensure better access to citizen-centric services, improved administrative efficiency, and effective inter-departmental coordination.
The proposal for Hansi district was initially submitted by the Deputy Commissioner, Hisar, through the Commissioner of Hisar Division, to the State Government, emphasizing the need for better governance and streamlined service delivery to the residents of Hansi and nearby regions.
The district will encompass a total of 110 villages, including Hansi, Narnaund, Mirchpur, Sorkhi, Khanda Kheri, Singhwa Khas, Gamra, Kanwari, and Ugalan, among others. With this decision, the total number of districts in Haryana now stands at twenty-three.
