Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian has assured early redressal of the long-pending demands of the state’s Veterinary Inspectors.
Chairing a meeting with the Punjab State Veterinary Inspectors Association delegation, led by President Gurdeep Singh Bassi, at the Punjab Civil Secretariat today, the Minister held detailed deliberations and affirmed that all legitimate demands will be addressed in a time-bound manner.
The Association put forward key demands including consideration of 18 months’ service as regular service for 400 Veterinary Inspectors recruited in 2011, the creation of 87 new posts of Veterinary Inspectors at the tehsil level, and implementation of the 6th Pay Commission recommendations.
Following the Minister’s assurance, the Association announced the withdrawal of its proposed rally in Lambi.S. Khudian also instructed the Director, Animal Husbandry Department, to expedite follow-up action on these matters. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to resolving the issues amicably, he added that a meeting with Punjab Finance Minister S. Harpal Singh Cheema would be facilitated soon to move towards a concrete resolution of the core demands.
