Bomb Threats to Patiala Schools, Police Launch Probe

Patiala, December 23

Panic spread across Patiala on Tuesday morning after multiple schools reportedly received email threats warning of bomb explosions. Authorities immediately swung into action, tightening security and launching an investigation into the origins of the messages.

According to initial reports, Ryan International School in Patiala received a threatening email, while two other schools took precautionary measures and sent students home. However, since winter vacations began on December 21, no students were on campus when the threats surfaced.

Urban Estate SHO Inspector Gurpreet Singh Samrao confirmed that three to four schools had received similar emails. “Police are on full alert, and the situation is under control. All schools have been checked thoroughly, and additional patrolling has been deployed,” he said.

IP Address Under Investigation

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma said the cyber cell and technical teams are tracing the IP address linked to the threatening emails to determine their origin. “We will identify those behind this act and take strict legal action. No attempt to disturb the city’s peace will be tolerated,” SSP Sharma stated.

Similar Threats Reported Earlier

This incident follows a pattern of similar bomb threats recently reported in Amritsar and Jalandhar. Educational institutions across Punjab have been urged to remain vigilant, even as police maintain that the situation in Patiala is fully under control.
