CM Mann Slams SGPC Chief as ‘Sukhbir’s Soldier,’ Vows No Return to Akali-Era Sacrilege in Majitha

Lays foundation for ₹11.32 crore rural roads, names AAP’s Talbir Singh Gill as 2027 candidate

Majitha (Amritsar), January 19

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann accused Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami of abandoning his duty to the Guru Sahiban, instead pledging loyalty to SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Speaking at a public event in Majitha, Mann laid the foundation stone for 23 rural link roads worth ₹11.32 crore and declared AAP leader Talbir Singh Gill as the party’s candidate for the 2027 Assembly elections from the constituency.

Mann expressed dismay that Dhami, whom he called an advocate by profession, prioritizes political rallies over Sikh institutions. “It pains the Panth that the SGPC chief sees himself as Sukhbir Badal’s soldier, not Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s,” he said, warning against efforts to revive Akali-era “beadbi” (sacrilege) and “goondagardi” (thuggery).

Majitha’s Shift from Fear to Empowerment

Mann highlighted Majitha’s transformation from a hub of intimidation under the Majithia and Badal families to a bastion of people-led governance. “This area once trembled under a self-styled ‘jarnail’ who weaponized false cases with ties to Congress and Akali regimes,” he noted. He referenced historical betrayals, like hosting General Dyer on Jallianwala Bagh massacre day in 1919, asserting Punjabis won’t forgive such legacies.

The CM cautioned that an Akali resurgence would bring back Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege, firings on protesters, and farmer hardships. His government formed an SIT to probe 328 missing saroops, emphasizing no interference in religious bodies.Key Announcements and Welfare Focus2027 Candidate: Talbir Singh Gill named AAP pick for Majitha, symbolizing a shift to “development over dynasty.”
