Chandigarh, February 10

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today appealed to the people of Punjab not to be misled by the propaganda being spread by anti-Punjab forces regarding the ‘Chief Minister Sehat Yojana’ launched by the state government for every family.

Addressing the people through a video message, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Punjab Government has launched this flagship public welfare scheme so that every citizen of Punjab, especially the weaker sections of the society, can get direct access to cashless treatment.”

Speaking about this initiative, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “To provide comprehensive healthcare to the people, the state government has launched the ‘Chief Minister Sehat Yojana,’ the first of its kind in the country. Under this scheme, every family in Punjab can avail cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh.”

Calling it a historic achievement, the Chief Minister said, “It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Punjab has become the first state in India to provide free healthcare services on a large scale. This scheme will significantly reduce the financial burden on the people and also ensure access to quality healthcare.”

Giving details about registration for this scheme, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This historic initiative aims to provide cashless health services to all families in the state. All government employees, pensioners, and other citizens are eligible for a health card. This health card can be obtained from Facilitation Centers and Common Service Centers, or through online registration using an Aadhaar card or voter ID card.”

Citing the enthusiasm he has received from the public, he said that the scheme has been overwhelmingly welcomed by the people of Punjab, who are coming forward in large numbers to avail of its benefits. He said that this initiative has brought significant relief to families who previously had to bear the heavy cost of medical treatment out of their own pockets.

The Chief Minister warned against spreading misinformation, saying that some anti-Punjab forces, who do not want the people of the state to get such facilities, are deliberately spreading lies about this flagship scheme.

He further said that the absurd statements being made by the opposition regarding the scheme are only aimed at disappointing the people about the scheme, which is completely unreasonable and unfair.

Clarifying the process of empanelment of hospitals, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has empanelled maximum number of private hospitals under this scheme and under this scheme the government has fixed rates for about 2,600 diseases and treatment services.

Explaining the payment method, he said that the government will pay the hospitals as per mutually agreed rates, irrespective of the amount charged by the hospitals from outsiders for any disease or treatment service.

Explaining the accountability of the hospitals, the Chief Minister said that all the hospitals listed under the scheme are bound to provide treatment at the rates fixed by the government and they have been directed to ensure that the beneficiaries get cashless treatment.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann categorically dismissed any misinformation about the scheme, stating that hospitals will be paid directly by the government and that no penny will be charged from beneficiaries. He categorically rejected attempts by anti-Punjab forces to mislead and present a false picture regarding the scheme and urged people to refrain from rumors.

Talking about the benefits of the scheme, the Chief Minister categorically said that the treatment services for the beneficiaries under the ‘Chief Minister Sehat Yojana’ are cashless and no fees will be charged from the patients by the hospitals.

Appealing to the public to remain vigilant, he said that people should be wary of forces bent on harming public interest by spreading baseless rumors. He added, “I appeal to all Punjabis not to pay attention to any rumors.”

Elaborating on the treatment services under the scheme, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has made a concrete arrangement under which the entire treatment process from admission to the hospital to investigation or test, treatment and discharge from the hospital will be cashless.

Giving a clear warning regarding violations, the Chief Minister said that if any hospital demands money from any patient under this scheme, a complaint should be lodged with the government immediately.

He further said that the government will take strict, punitive and exemplary action against any hospital found involved in such wrongdoings. Finally, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “I appeal to the people of Punjab to take maximum benefit of this scheme, which is being appreciated across the world.”———
