Green Hola Mohalla: Pollution Control Board, District Administration Hold Special Meeting with Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib

To celebrate Green Hola Mohalla, a special meeting was held with Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Garhgajj of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib by Punjab Pollution Control Board Chairperson Reena Gupta, Member Secretary Lavneet Dubey, Deputy Commissioner Adittya Dachalwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Avikesh Gupta, Mela Officer Sukhpal Singh, and SDM Sri Anandpur Sahib. On this occasion, Takht Sahib’s Manager Malkit Singh, Deputy Manager Hardev Singh, and Information Officer Harpreet Singh were also present.

Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Garhgajj said that environment protection is an important issue and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib will provide full cooperation in the Green Hola Mohalla campaign. He informed that this time only steel utensils or biodegradable utensils will be used in langars and the congregation is being motivated to avoid plastic use. He said that more efforts are needed in this direction and cooperation from every devotee is very essential.

Pollution Control Board Chairperson Reena Gupta said that the Green Hola Mohalla campaign has been started and it is receiving overwhelming support from congregations, institutions, and langar committees. She informed that plastic packaging is being reduced by supplying milk through vending machines at verkas. She said that the Pollution Control Board is implementing this campaign seriously and the district administration is providing cooperation at every level.

Deputy Commissioner Adittya Dachalwal said that only with the appeal of saints-holy men and religious institutions is the Green Hola Mohalla decision being successfully implemented at the grassroots level. He informed that biodegradable utensils and materials have been provided free of cost to langar committees so that plastic use can be completely reduced. He said that extensive arrangements have been made for devotees’ convenience and cleanliness management
