Chandigarh/Jalandhar
Senior Congress leader and MLA from Bholath, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, today strongly condemned what he described as the dangerous introduction of “Bulldozer (Pila-Panja) politics” in Punjab by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann under the directions of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, to silence voices of criticism and democratic dissent.
Referring to today’s incident, Khaira said that a portion of his legitimate ancestral house in his native village a property where his family has been residing for more than 200 years was illegally demolished by the district administration using heavy police force.
Khaira alleged that he was neither served any prior notice nor given an opportunity of hearing before carrying out the demolition. Instead, acting on what he termed as illegal and politically motivated orders from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Kapurthala SSP personally supervised the demolition operation by deploying brute police force.
He categorically stated that he possesses complete documentary records of ownership and asserted that not even an inch of his village property is illegal or unauthorized.
Lashing out at the AAP government, Khaira said that Bhagwant Mann has turned Punjab into a police state, a fact evident from recent developments including alleged fake encounters, demolition of houses of poor people on the pretext of them being gangsters or drug peddlers, and the growing misuse of police machinery for political vendetta.
He further pointed to the recent incident involving SSP Bathinda Jyoti Yadav, who allegedly inflicted brutal treatment on Charanjit Singh, a farmer associated with the BKU (Ugrahan), terming it another glaring example of the prevailing police raj in the state.
Khaira said he has been repeatedly targeted through false criminal cases, arrests, and imprisonment merely because he is a vocal critic of the anti people policies and failures of the AAP government.
Announcing legal action, Khaira said he will shortly approach the Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court against the illegal demolition of his lawful property. He vowed to take the matter to its logical conclusion and ensure that all guilty police and civil officials responsible for this unlawful and politically motivated action are brought to justice and punished through due process of law.
Khaira warned that the people of Punjab will not tolerate the use of state machinery, intimidation, and bulldozer politics to crush democratic opposition and dissent.
