Mansa Police Seizes Heroin, Poppy Husk, and Illicit Liquor, 9 Arrested

In a major success under Punjab government’s ‘War Against Drugs‘ campaign aimed at making the state drug-free, Mansa Police have registered seven cases, arrested nine individuals, and seized 26.50 grams of heroin, 4 kg of poppy husk, 90 liters of lahan, and 10 bottles of illicit liquor.

The operations were conducted following directives from Director General of Police Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, IPS, and under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Bathinda Range, Harjeet Singh, IPS, as announced by Senior Superintendent of Police Mansa, Bhagirth Singh Meena, IPS.

A CIA staff team from Sadar Mansa Police Station nabbed Manpreet Kaur, wife of Prithipal Singh, resident of Ward No. 16, Mansa, during a routine naka/checking and recovered 6 grams of heroin from her possession. Police have registered FIR No. 31 dated February 2, 2026, under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Sadar Mansa Police Station, with investigation underway.

In a separate action, a CIA staff team from Joga Police Station apprehended Satnam Singh, son of Darshan Singh, resident of Bhupal Khurd, and seized 8 grams of heroin during a naka/checking. FIR No. 10 dated February 2, 2026, under Section 21 NDPS Act has been lodged at Joga Police Station, and probe is ongoing.

City Budhlada Police Station teams struck twice in quick succession. They first recovered 90 liters of lahan along with 10 bottles of illicit liquor from Angrej Singh, son of Kaka Singh, resident of Ward No. 02, Mank Ahmdpur Colony, during a naka/checking, leading to FIR No. 19 dated February 2, 2026, under Section 61 of the Excise Act. In another bust, the team seized 4 grams of heroin from Sukhdev Singh, son of Googa Ram, resident of Ward No. 11, Budhlada. FIR No. 22 dated February 2, 2026, under Section 21 NDPS Act has been registered at City Budhlada Police Station, and investigations continue.

Boha Police Station also registered notable successes. A team recovered 2 grams of heroin from Sandeep Kumar, son of Om Prakash, resident of Ward No. 10, Boha, during naka/checking, resulting in FIR No. 25 dated February 2, 2026, under Section 21 NDPS Act. Additionally, they seized 4 kg of poppy husk from Bhagwan Singh, son of Sadha Singh, resident of Ryud Kalan, and Jagsir Singh, son of Balwinder Singh, resident of Bahmanawala, leading to FIR No. 26 dated February 2, 2026, under Section 15 NDPS Act at Boha Police Station.

Finally, a CIA staff team from Bareta Police Station arrested Gurmukh Singh, son of Bira Singh, and Prem Sarma, son of Teja Ram, both residents of Ward No. 09, Bareta, recovering 6.50 grams of heroin during a naka/checking. FIR No. 18 dated February 2, 2026, under Section 21 NDPS Act has been filed at Bareta Police Station, with further investigation in progress.

SSP Meena emphasized that these coordinated efforts reflect the Punjab Police’s commitment to eradicating drugs from the region.
