Mission Pragati: Free and Focused Coaching For Competition Exams Proves Boon, DC

Youngsters selected in govt jobs under Mission Pragati

The free and focussed coaching for competition exams under Punjab government’s Mission Pragati has started yielding results. From the first batch of forty students, six of them have been selected for government jobs after being trained at the District Library as part of this initiative.

Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman said this while addressing the function held for felicitation of first batch passing out under Mission Pragati. DIG Harjeet Singh, who has been teaching mathematics to the first batch students and SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains were also present.

Dhiman said that the six youngsters who have been selected for government jobs are an inspiration for others. He added that under the initiative government has provided free high quality coaching to these students for a period of three months. Launched by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann at district library on January 11, the initiative has proven to be huge help for rural students especially who couldn’t afford to travel to very far off places to prepare for competition exams. He added that students are especially taught GK, history, geopolitics, economics, maths, geography, English and other subjects of competition exams. The entire syllabus has been tailored to meet requirements of government exams.

Added to this, free physical training batch is also being run at the local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sport Stadium. Youngsters preparing for recruitment to police and armed forces are being especially trained for physical examination. He added that the second batch shall be started from April 1 onwards.

Harjeet Singh DIG Bathinda said that the District Library is strategically located near the bus stand thereby enabling youngsters to easily commute from their homes to Bathinda. He called upon youngsters to stay disciplined and aim for higher. He added that this initiative of government is especially a boon for the youngsters from humble background.

Dr Jyoti Yadav Bains exhorted the students to keep away from mobile phone and social media so that they can focus on their studies. She added that at under Mission Pragati not only are the youngsters getting free coaching, rather they are also able to have access to free books of highest quality. DIG Harjeet Singh, DC Rajesh Dhiman and SSP Dr Jyoti Yadav honored the students who have been selected. They also honoured the faculty of library that’s working hard to help students achieve their goals.

The youth selected for government jobs include Rajpreet Singh from village Bhagwangarh Bathinda has cleared three competitive exams and been selected for four posts. He has been selected as clerk technical education department rank-5, executive assistance labour department rank-3 and senior assistant-cum-inspector nagar panchayat rank-19 and senior assistant DC Office rank-29. Similarly, Harpreet Singh from village Malwala has been selected in Punjab police, Amandeep Singh from village Rameana Jaito has been selected in Punjab, Ramandeep Singh from village Thandi Kadim from Jalalabaad has been selected in navy. Similarly, Jasleen Kaur from village Sivian has cleared test IIT JAM Chemistry 2026. Prabhjot Singh from Anup Nagar Bathinda has been selected as clerk.
