Extending Greeting on Baisakhi, MP Satnam Singh Sandhu says Sikh Community Has Always Been at the Forefront for Protecting and Defending The Nation & Other Communities
Talwandi Sabo, 14 April — On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, senior leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab joined thousands of devotees in celebration of this festival, which commemorates establishment of the Khalsa panth or Sikh order by tenth Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh on this day in 1699, at the Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Gurdwara, one of the five temporal seats of Sikhism in the sacred town of Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda.
On this festival which also marks begging of Sikh New Year as per the Nanakshahi calendar, a delegation of senior Punjab BJP leadership including Senior Advocate HS Phoolka, Member of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jathedar Charanjit Singh Kalewal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Satnam Singh Sandhu, Kanwarveer Singh Tohra, former MLA Mangat Rai Bansal, Bikramjit Singh Cheema, Dayal Singh Sodhi, Parampal Kaur Maluka, Gurpreet Singh Maluka, Saroop Singh Singla, Jagdeep Singh Nakai, Jagdeep Singh Brar paid obeisance at the Takht Sri Damdama Sahib and offered prayers to the almighty for ‘Sarbat Da Bhala’ (the welfare of all).
The BJP leaders prayed for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the nation, Punjab and its people. They also prayed that the ethos of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood are strengthened in the country with every passing day and nation continues to achieve development in every sphere.
After paying obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, the BJP leaders also listened to Shabad Kirtan and performed Langar Seva on the occasion, conveying the message of Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, Vand Chhako”, the three core pillars of Sikhism promoting a balanced life of spiritual devotion, honest labor, and sharing with community.
Speaking on the occasion, senior advocate and BJP leader HS Phoolka congratulated on Baisakhi and said Sri Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa Panth in 1699 which not only stopped the invaders but also saved our country and expanded their rule to Afghanistan. “I pray that Guru Maharaj will show us the path to take Punjab back to the glory days of the past,”, he added.
MP Satnam Singh Sandhu said, “Heartiest greetings to all on this holy festival of Baisakhi. On the historic occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas, visiting the sacred land of Malwa and bowing my head at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib is not merely a religious ritual, but a blessed opportunity to connect with the source of spiritual power and ideological determination.This is the holy place where Dashmesh Pita Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji untied his ‘Kamarkassa’ (waistband) after enduring incredibly difficult times and immense sacrifices. This teaches us that battles are won not only on the fields of war but also through patience and unwavering faith. Known as ‘Guru Ki Kashi’, this sacred land of Talwandi Sabo stands witness to the fact that the Khalsa is a unique confluence of the Shastar (weapon) and the Shastra (scripture). Standing here, I feel that our resolve to serve Punjab must be as steadfast and strong as a rock. Today, while bowing before Guru Sahib at this holy site, we, the members of the Bharatiya Janata Party family, offered prayers for the well-being of all (Sarbat da Bhala) and expressed our gratitude to the Tenth Guru,”.
