Punjab Creates Over 59,000 Govt Jobs

Boosts Skilling and Private Sector Placements

Chandigarh, December 29

In a major step to curb the state’s talent exodus, the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has marked 2025 as a year of exceptional progress in employment generation and skill development.

Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training Minister Aman Arora informed that a multi-pronged strategy has resulted in thousands of new opportunities, including 59,702 permanent government jobs since April 2022.

Elaborating on the state’s employment initiatives, Mr. Arora said that 48,912 candidates secured placements through 959 job fairs organized in partnership with the private sector, while 10,064 youths began self-employment ventures through loan camps during 2025. The Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) trained 19,619 candidates under the “Punjab Hunar Vikas Yojna,” with placements currently underway.

Mr. Arora added that collaborations with tech giants Microsoft, IBM, and NASSCOM are equipping youth with globally relevant corporate skills, ensuring growth opportunities within the state. “Punjab’s youth no longer need to look outward for progress. We are building a self-reliant Punjab where talent is recognised, trained, and retained,” he asserted.

The state’s dedicated employment portal, PGRKAM (https://punjabrozgar.org.in/), has emerged as a robust platform—registering over 22.41 lakh job seekers and 20,669 employers, and hosting 1,316 job fairs to connect talent with opportunity.

Punjab has also registered landmark achievements in defence training. The Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) recorded an 82.45% success rate for NDA selections, with 34 cadets joining the National Defence Academy and 17 commissioned as officers in 2025. In a historic move for gender parity, the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute launched the nation’s first state-run NDA Preparatory Wing for girls, training 40 young women.

Ten lady cadets were selected to join various officer academies, seven were commissioned, and 74 cleared national-level written exams this year.Further strengthening this ecosystem, 8,017 youth trained at C-PYTE centres for armed and paramilitary services, with 1,236 securing positions in the current fiscal year.

Reaffirming the government’s youth-centric vision, Mr. Arora said, “Every job offered, every skill imparted, and every entrepreneur created is a brick in the wall that will stop the drain of our most precious resource—our children’s potential.”
