Punjab CM, MPs already urged renaming in deference to Sikh sentiments
CHANDIGARH/FATEHGARH SAHIB, December 26:
Punjab Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party State President Shri Aman Arora on Thursday said that observing Sahibzadas’ Balidan Diwas would serve as a more appropriate and dignified tribute to the unparalleled martyrdom of the Chhote Sahibzadas than the term Veer Bal Diwas, as it better reflects the deep emotions and faith of the Sikh Sangat.
Paying floral tributes along with MPs Malvinder Singh Kang and Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer to Baba Zorawar Singh Ji, Baba Fateh Singh Ji, and Mata Gujri Ji at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Arora said the supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzadas remains an unparalleled chapter in world history, epitomizing courage, faith, and steadfastness.
He noted that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Members of Parliament have already supported renaming Veer Bal Diwas as Balidan Diwas, in respectful acknowledgment of the Sikh community’s sentiments and religious sensitivities.
“The martyrdom of the Chhote Sahibzadas at such a tender age continues to inspire humanity, symbolizing an unyielding stand against tyranny and injustice,” Arora said. “Their sacrifice will forever remain etched in the nation’s collective conscience.”
Arora also observed that Fatehgarh Sahib, a sacred site in Sikh history, stands as a lasting reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by the family of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, whose legacy of righteousness, valor, and selflessness continues to guide generations.
MLAs Lakhbir Singh Rai, Rupinder Singh Happy, and Davinderjit Singh Laddi Dhos, along with Advisor to the Tourism Department Deepak Bali and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind, were also present on the occasion.
