Three Employees Of Karnal Mandi Suspended For Issuing Fake Gate Pass

Karnal, Oct 25

Haryana government has taken a strict stance on complaints of irregularities during the millet procurement process in the state.

In Karnal Mandi, market supervisors Hardeep and Ashwani, along with auction recorder Satveer, have been suspended with immediate effect for allegedly issuing fake gate passes.

During millet procurement in the Karnal market area, gate passes were being issued using different IP addresses. These fake gate passes were not prepared in the names of real farmers but in the names of fake accounts or other individuals, allowing manipulation of government procurement records. After receiving complaints, a preliminary departmental inquiry was conducted. Once the allegations were found to be true, the Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed immediate suspension of the two market supervisors and the auction recorder of the Karnal Market Committee.

Administrative officials stated that to ensure transparency for farmers during the millet procurement season, the government had introduced an online portal and gate-pass system so that farmers would receive timely payments and the role of middlemen would be eliminated. However, the complaints received in Karnal indicated an attempt to undermine this system.

In response, the district administration has clearly instructed that any irregularity related to farmers will not be tolerated. Officials have been warned that if such misconduct is repeated, strict departmental and legal action will be taken.

Meanwhile, officials from the Food and Supplies Department and the Market Board are now conducting random inspections across all markets. Every stage of the millet procurement process — weighing, gate-pass issuance, payment, and lifting — is being monitored through CCTV footage and digital log records. The Karnal district administration has also appealed farmers to sell their crops only through authorized gate passes and to immediately report any irregularity or fraud to the administration so that prompt action can be taken.
