High Court Allows Provisional NEET-MDS Application Despite Internship Deadline Issue

court order

Chandigarh, March 25

In a significant interim relief, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has permitted a petitioner to provisionally apply for the NEET-MDS 2026 examination despite not completing her internship by the stipulated deadline.

The case titled Divyanshi Goyal @ Divyanshi vs Union of India and Others came up for hearing before the Bench of Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Rohit Kapoor. Appearing on behalf of the petitioner, Advocate Manju Goyal argued that her client is scheduled to complete her internship by June 20, 2026. She emphasized that in the past three academic sessions, authorities had extended the internship completion deadline till June 30, and therefore, denying the petitioner the opportunity to appear in NEET-MDS merely due to non-completion by May 31 would be unjust.

Taking note of the submissions, the Court observed that the matter requires consideration and issued notice of motion to the respondents. Counsel for the Union of India accepted notice and sought time to file a reply. As an interim measure, the Court directed that the petitioner be provisionally allowed to fill out the application form for NEET-MDS 2026, subject to further orders in the writ petition. The matter has been adjourned to April 22, 2026, for further hearing. The order brings temporary relief to the petitioner, ensuring that her chances of appearing in the examination are not foreclosed pending adjudication of the case.
