Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann met the Class 12 toppers in Chandigarh and honoured the three top girls with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

Under the education revolution of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann government, 416 government schools have set a new record by registering 100 percent pass percentage in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 12 examination.
In the recently released Class 12 results, girls once again dominated the merit list and pass percentage. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann praised three Punjab girls – Supneet Kaur of Mansa, Suhani Chauhan of Ludhiana, and Diwanshi – who topped the exam with 500 out of 500 marks, saying that girls are leading the revival of education.
Further strengthening the faith in education in government schools, 122 of the 275 students on the merit list are from government schools. This reflects the revolutionary transformation of Punjab’s education system under the AAP government, with infrastructure upgrades, modern classrooms, and focused educational reforms. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann honored Supneet Kaur of Mansa, Suhani Chauhan and Diwanshi of Ludhiana for scoring 500 out of 500. The Chief Minister honored these students with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 for their outstanding achievement.
While interacting with the students, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that all the three toppers are national and state level players, which clearly shows that they are performing brilliantly in every field.” He further said, “All the toppers are from humble backgrounds and want to touch the heights of success in life through hard work and dedication. The Punjab government will provide them full support and cooperation in realising their dreams.”
Highlighting the consistently excellent performance of girls in the field of education, the Chief Minister said, “It is a matter of pride for us that with the spread of education, girls have surpassed boys not only in the field of education but in every field. Time has proved that girls are no less than boys in any field.”
Describing these achievements as a living proof of empowerment, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This is the real empowerment of girls, which is a new beginning for their socio-economic resurgence and the glorious progress of Punjab and the country.” Sharing details of the results, the Chief Minister said that approximately 2.65 lakh students appeared for the examination, of which about 2.42 lakh passed, giving an overall pass percentage of approximately 91.46 percent. The pass percentage for girls was 94.73 percent and for boys 88.52 percent. He added that Amritsar district recorded the highest pass percentage in the state at 96 percent.
The Chief Minister said that Patiala district has won the merit list, where the highest number of 59 students have appeared in the merit list.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Keeping the trend of previous years, girls have once again outperformed boys in the results. Of the total 278 students who have made it to the merit list, 217 are girls and 61 are boys.” Highlighting the steadily improving standards of education in government schools, the Chief Minister said that due to the Punjab Government’s diligent efforts, 122 students from government schools have appeared on the merit list, representing more than 50 percent of the total meritorious students. He said it was a matter of great pride that 416 government schools had recorded 100 percent results.
During the conversation, a top student expressed her desire to become a pilot in the Indian Air Force. Encouraging her, the Chief Minister said that girls aspiring to join the armed forces should enroll at the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls in Mohali. The Chief Minister said, “This institute is performing very well and is the only fully residential institute of its kind in the country which trains young girls to become commissioned officers in the defence services.” He further said, “To make the girls eligible to compete at the national level, they are trained here both physically and mentally, in which they are given proper preparation to pass the AFCAT, CDS and SSB exams.”
Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Ravi Bhagat, School Education Secretary Sonali Giri and several other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
