India Women produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat England Women by 270 runs in the one-off Test at Lord’s, registering one of their biggest victories in red-ball cricket.
The match was historic as it was the first-ever Women’s Test played at the iconic Lord’s in its 142-year history. India made the occasion memorable by outplaying England with the bat, ball and in the field. Chasing a massive target of 457, England were bowled out for 186 on the fourth day, giving Harmanpreet Kaur’s side a convincing win. The star of the match was Yastika Bhatia, who became the first woman to score a Test century at Lord’s. Her century helped India declare their second innings at 341/7, giving the visitors an overall lead of 456 runs. Smriti Mandhana scored 70, while Richa Ghosh remained unbeaten on 50. In the first innings, India scored 285, with Mandhana making 83, Harmanpreet Kaur scoring 58 and Deepti Sharma adding 57. England were then dismissed for 170, thanks to debutant fast bowler Kranti Gaud, who claimed a five-wicket haul and gave India a crucial 115-run first-innings lead.
