Chandigarh, January 8
The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, inaugurated the revamped official website of Chandigarh Tourism at Lok Bhawan, Chandigarh. The redesigned platform aims to offer a dynamic, visitor-friendly, and globally aligned digital experience to enhance engagement with both domestic and international tourists.
Developed by the Department of Tourism, U.T. Chandigarh, the new website — https://chandigarhtourism.gov.in/ — features a modern and visually interactive interface with improved navigation and refined content structure, aligning with international tourism standards.
A key highlight is the newly introduced “Fairs, Festivals & Events” section — a centralized event listing portal that allows government departments, private organizations, and individuals to register and showcase their events. It also provides a calendar view of past and upcoming festivals, making it a one-stop platform for all city events and cultural happenings.
The “Plan Your Visit” section offers curated information on why and when to visit Chandigarh, along with 13 specially designed tourist itineraries covering themes such as Heritage, Nature, Wellness, Architecture, and Food, available for 1-day, 2-day, and 3-day trips, including interstate attractions.
To boost tourist facilitation and accessibility, the site integrates features like E-Visa information (linked to the Bureau of Immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs), details of Tourist Information Centres, and the Chandigarh Tourism E-ticketing App, which enables unified QR-based ticket booking for multiple attractions on a single mobile platform.
The website also highlights the Film Facilitation Cell, offering online permissions for film shootings at city locations within 3–5 working days, along with information on theatre and auditorium bookings and detailed photo archives of key attractions.
