Chandigarh, July 5
Two people were killed, while five were rescued when two-storey building collapsed in Chandigarh’s Industrial Area Phase-II. The building was being renovated.
The incident occurred at Plot No. 28/9. The Chandigarh police, administrative officials, fire brigade personnel and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) launched a search and rescue operation. Deceased have been identified as Tarun Jain and Tarun Kaushik, both belonged to Meerut in UP. They died in hospital while receiving treatment, whereas injured have been identified as Umesh, Kuldeep, Kulvir, Ajit and Rahul. Mayor Saurabh Joshi also reached at the spot. Earlier, police, administrative officials and fire brigade teams rushed to the site and initiated debris clearance and search operations after the collapse. The NDRF later joined the operation.
