Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Thursday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his martyrdom day, observed as Martyrs’ Day, at a solemn ceremony held at Lok Bhavan. The tribute meeting took place in the Darbar Hall, where the Governor offered flowers to the portrait of the Father of the Nation and recalled his life, ideals and unparalleled contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that Mahatma Gandhi guided the nation towards independence by firmly adhering to the principles of truth and non-violence. He remarked that Gandhiji’s philosophy holds even greater relevance in the present times, when societies across the world are witnessing growing conflicts, intolerance and unrest.
The Governor said that the nation will forever remain indebted to Mahatma Gandhi for leading one of the largest and most impactful non-violent movements in global history. He noted that Gandhiji not only freed India from colonial rule but also demonstrated to the world the transformative power of non-violence in achieving social, political and moral change.
He further said that Gandhian values continue to inspire generations and serve as a guiding force for building a society rooted in peace, justice, harmony and mutual respect.
Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma, along with officers and staff of Lok Bhavan, also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion and remembered his ideals, sacrifices and enduring legacy.
