Bathinda, April 3:
Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Shri Rajesh Dhiman, while reviewing district-level arrangements in a meeting with district officials regarding the drug and socio-economic census, said that the Punjab Government is conducting a “Drug and Socio-Economic Census.” To complete this process within given time limit, enumerators will be deployed at all 1,193 polling booths in the district. This census is expected to start soon and be carried out through a government-provided mobile application over about 45 days.
He said the main purpose of this census is to collect accurate and up-to-date data about the drug-related situation in the district and the socio-economic condition of the people, so that welfare schemes can be implemented more effectively by the government. He also shared information about district-level preparations, logistical arrangements, training plans, rural and urban coverage strategies and coordination with local institutions.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all residents of the district to extend full cooperation when enumerators come for door-to-door survey and to provide correct and updated information. He also stressed transparency, accuracy of data, and strict adherence to the specified timelines. He instructed the officials to ensure proper planning and inter-departmental coordination. During the meeting, he also directed that the standards, definitions and procedures under the Census Act be fully followed.
He said that the census will begin soon and be completed in about 45 days, and the survey will be conducted through a mobile application provided by the government.
During the meeting, all officials were asked to carry out their responsibilities with professional integrity, legal compliance, and administrative efficiency so that the census can be successfully completed in a transparent, inclusive, accurate and technology-based manner.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Madam Kanchan, S.D.M. Bathinda Shri Balkaran Singh, S.D.M. Rampura and Maur Madam Veerpal Kaur, S.D.M. Talwandi Sabo Shri Rajesh Kumar Sharma, District Development and Panchayat Officer Shri Abhinav Goyal, along with officials from various departments, were present.
