Punjab Launches E-Sanad: Second State to Offer Digital Verification of School Certificates

Cutting Wait Times from 45 Days to Just Days

Chandigarh, January 12..

Punjab has become the second state in India to roll out E-Sanad, a fully digital platform for verifying educational documents, ending long queues and weeks of paperwork for students and alumni.

Launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) service allows online verification of mark-sheets and certificates in days rather than 40-45 days. Officials say it will benefit thousands of PSEB pass-outs annually, boost the global credibility of Punjab’s certificates, and simplify processes for higher education, jobs, and opportunities abroad.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains inaugurated the platform today, calling it a leap in digital governance. “No more queues: now get your education documents verified online,” he said.

“PSEB’s E-Sanad service cuts verification time from 45 days to a few days, ensuring paperless, citizen-centric authentication.

Bains noted that nearly three lakh students graduate from PSEB-affiliated schools each year, plus past alumni, who can now use the service seamlessly. Documents get digitally cross-checked against PSEB records, then authenticated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). It covers Hague Convention countries via Apostille, non-Hague nations via MEA attestation, and embassy stamps where needed.

The reform promises “far greater efficiency, transparency, and convenience,” especially for those heading abroad, Bains added. PSEB Chairman Dr. Amarpal Singh shared application details: Access the E-Sanad portal, payment gateway, and step-by-step guides on www.pseb.ac.in. “The entire process is fully online and paperless—no need to visit PSEB headquarters,” he said.

This citizen-focused initiative underscores Punjab’s push for faster, tech-driven services in education.
