Child dies in Solan blaze; relief, rescue operations launched

Shimla: Expressing deep sorrow over the Arki market fire incident, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said the state government is closely monitoring relief and rescue efforts following the tragic blaze in Arki town of Solan district, in which an eight-year-old child lost his life.

The Arki market fire incident occurred late Sunday night, triggering an immediate response from the district administration. On receiving information, the Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner of Solan to ensure swift rescue operations and deploy all necessary resources to contain the fire and assist affected families.

Arki Market Fire Incident Brings Multi-Agency Response

Firefighting teams from the Arki Fire Service were rushed to the spot, supported by additional fire tenders from Boileauganj in Shimla district, Banalgi in Solan district, and the Ambuja Cement Company. Officials said the coordinated effort helped bring the blaze under control, preventing further damage in the densely populated market area.

The Chief Minister said that relief and rescue work was carried out on a war footing, with emergency services remaining on alert throughout the operation. He added that local MLA Sanjay Awasthi was present at the site and supervised rescue and coordination efforts on the ground.

According to officials, two persons sustained injuries in the Arki market fire incident and were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Arki, where they are undergoing treatment. The Chief Minister directed the local administration to ensure all possible medical assistance and necessary support for the injured.

The Chief Minister also ordered the district administration to extend immediate relief to the family of the deceased child, stating that no family should be left unattended in such tragic circumstances. He further instructed officials to conduct a detailed inquiry into the cause of the fire to ascertain responsibility and prevent similar incidents in the future.

Sukhu expressed concern over fire safety in market areas and stressed the need for strict compliance with safety norms, especially in crowded commercial zones where such incidents can lead to severe loss of life and property.

The Chief Minister prayed for the peace of the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, wishing them strength to cope with the irreparable loss. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the unfortunate incident.
