Applications invited to fill 3 posts of Tehsildar, 1 each of Naib Tehsildar and Kanungo and 70 posts of Patwari on temporary basis

Applications have been invited from interested and eligible candidates for reappointment on the vacant posts of Tehsildar/ Naib Tehsildar/ Patwari in Shimla district on a contractual basis.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap informed that the application forms along with all necessary supporting documents/ certificates should reach the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Shimla (HP) by January 31, 2026, or earlier. Applications received after the last date or incomplete ones will be rejected without any notice.
Application forms can be downloaded from official website of Shimla district http://hpshimla.nic.in. He informed that 3 posts of Tehsildar, 1 post of Naib Tehsildar, 1 post of Kanungo, and 70 posts of Patwari are to be filled in Shimla district. He stated that the candidate must have served at least 5 years in any wing of the Revenue Department of the state before retirement, and no departmental/disciplinary proceedings should be pending against them. In this regard, the concerned retired person will have to obtain a certificate from their parent department and submit it along with the application form.
Additionally, the applicant will submit a medical fitness certificate from a government hospital along with the application form. The age of the retired persons to be appointed should not be more than 65 years as on January 31, 2026. Attaching the matriculation certificate with the application form is also mandatory.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that a contractual remuneration of Rs 70,000 per month will be given for retired Tehsildar, Rs 60,000 per month for retired Naib Tehsildar, Rs 50,000 per month for retired Kanungo, and Rs 40,000 per month for retired Patwari. He stated that retired Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, and Patwaris will be reappointed for an initial period of 03 months, and it can be extended further based on the candidate’s performance and requirement. If the number of applications exceeds the number of vacant posts, preference will be given to younger candidates for appointment to such posts.
The period of this employment will not be counted for any benefits from their service prior to retirement. The service of such retired persons will be entirely on a temporary basis and can be terminated at any time during this reappointment period. Persons appointed to the job will be entitled to one day of casual leave after completing one month of service. They will not be entitled to any other type of leave.
Failure to report for duty without intimation and without the approval of the controlling officer will result in automatic termination of such employment. They will not receive salary for the period of absence from duty. If they have to go on tour in connection with their official duties, they will be entitled to TA/DA at the same rate as applicable to regular counterpart officers on the minimum pay scale.
They will continue to avail the benefits of medical facilities and reimbursement of medical expenses received as retired persons. Monthly salary to reappointed retired persons will be paid on the basis of performance/work certificate, which will also include details of cases disposed by them. This certificate will be issued to the reappointed retired person by the concerned controlling authority at the end of the month.
After the pending revenue cases are cleared, the services of retired employees will be terminated. Reappointing retired persons will have no effect on the promotion of existing officials/employees, and the posts filled by them will be considered vacant for the purpose of promotion.
