Crusader of 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots HS Phoolka Joins BJP

New Delhi, April 1

Senior advocate of the Supreme Court and crusader of 1984 anti-Sikh riots H.S. Phoolka joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Punjab party president Sunil Jakhar and others were also present.

Phoolka had joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2014 and was made the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly in 2017. However, in 2018 he quit the office of MLA. Later, he left Aam Aadmi Party and politics.

The Government of India conferred Phoolka with Padma Shri in year 2019 in recognition of his decades-long legal crusade to get justice for the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He is also writer of book When A Tree Shook Delhi, which he had co-authored with Manoj Mitta.
