Haryana Extends Karnal and Faridabad Smart City Projects Till 2027 for Faster Completion and Better Execution

Government pushes deadline to ensure smooth infrastructure delivery and asset transfer under Smart City Mission

Chandigarh May 15

The Haryana government has extended the duration of the Smart City projects in Karnal and Faridabad until March 31, 2027, to ensure the timely completion of ongoing development works and smooth transfer of completed assets to concerned departments.

The decision was taken during a review meeting of the State Level High Powered Steering Committee chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, where progress under the Smart City Mission in both cities was assessed in detail.

Officials informed the committee that the extension would allow project implementation agencies to complete pending works more effectively while also ensuring better coordination in handing over completed infrastructure. The move is expected to improve execution efficiency and prevent delays in key urban development projects.

The extension also covers the project management consultancy for the Karnal Smart City initiative, enabling continued technical support for ongoing works. Authorities stated that the revised timeline will help streamline operations and ensure that the benefits of the projects reach residents in a structured and sustainable manner.
