Census Activities Successfully Initiated in 100% House Listing Blocks, DC
Deputy Commissioner Encourages Census Teams to Maintain the Same Zeal
Barnala, May 24
Municipal Corporation Barnala has emerged as the frontrunner across Punjab in the first phase of Census 2027, with census activities initiated in 100 percent of the blocks.
Deputy Commissioner Barnala-cum-Principal Census Officer Harpreet Singh, IAS congratulated all enumerators and supervisors for their exceptional dedication and hard work. He expressed full confidence that Barnala district, along with the Municipal Corporation, will continue to lead the state and successfully complete the first phase of this important national exercise.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that Municipal Corporation Barnala has taken a significant lead by initiating House Listing activities in all 172 House Listing Blocks (HLBs), achieving 100 percent coverage.
At the district level, out of 800 House Listing Blocks, only one block is yet to begin operations, while work has already been completed in 19 blocks and is progressing smoothly in the remaining 780 blocks.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the tireless efforts of the field staff and announced that enumerators demonstrating outstanding performance are being honoured at the district level. Supervisors will also be felicitated in the coming days for their valuable contribution.
The first phase of the Census began on May 15, 2026, and will continue till June 13, 2026. More than 1200 enumerators, along with a dedicated team of supervisors (one for every six enumerators) are working enthusiastically across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner said, “This is a matter of pride for Barnala. The energy and commitment shown by our field teams reflect the district’s strong administrative spirit. We are fully determined to complete this national mission with excellence and maintain our leading position in the state.”
He also extended his best wishes to the entire field staff and encouraged them to continue working with the same zeal in the coming days.
