District Earns Prestigious Uttam-2 Grade with 461 Scores
Deputy Commissioner Congratulates the Education Department

Setting a new benchmark in school education, Barnala has emerged as the top-performing district in Punjab and secured the third position among districts across the country in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0.
According to the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 for 2024–25 released by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, Punjab has secured the top position among all States and Union Territories. In the district-level assessment, Barnala has ranked first in Punjab and third in the country.
Sharing details of this remarkable achievement, Deputy Commissioner, Barnala, Harpreet Singh IAS, said that as per the PGI 2.0 district report for 2024–25, Barnala secured a score of 461 and earned the prestigious Uttam-2 Grade. The district stands first in Punjab and third among all districts nationwide.
He informed that under PGI-D, districts are assessed across six key domains: Outcomes, Effective Classroom Interactions, Infrastructure Facilities and Student Entitlements, School Safety and Child Protection, Digital Learning, and Governance Processes.
The Deputy Commissioner said that under the Punjab Government’s Sikhya Kranti initiative, District Barnala is continuously working towards setting new benchmarks in the field of education. He congratulated the hardworking team of the Education Department and its dedicated teachers on this achievement. He expressed confidence that Barnala would continue to secure leading positions and achieve similar milestones in the years to come.
