Rohtak Fire Incidence: Haryana Govt Stands Firmly with Families, Traders, CM Nayab Singh Saini

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire incident that occurred on June 9 in the D-Park area of Rohtak and assured full support to the affected families and traders.

During his visit to the affected market, the Chief Minister interacted with shopkeepers and assessed the damage caused to commercial establishments. He announced financial assistance of ₹10 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of the three deceased victims — Aman Kumar, son of Jagdish; Rohit Khurana; and Kapil Kumar. He also stated that traders who suffered heavy losses in the fire would receive immediate financial assistance.

Addressing mediapersons after the visit, Saini said preliminary information suggests that the fire was caused by a short circuit in an air conditioner, which rapidly spread and engulfed several establishments. He offered prayers for the departed souls and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The Chief Minister said the state government stands firmly with all those affected by the devastating fire. While acknowledging that no compensation can make up for the loss of human life, he assured every possible support to the victims and business owners impacted by the incident.

As part of the relief measures, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for Amarjit Singh, son of Ram Prakash and proprietor of Delhi Shoes; Satish Kumar, son of Bhup Singh and proprietor of Rohtak Shoes Company; Geeta Rani, wife of Jai Kishan and associated with Shoes Plaza; Indu Juneja, wife of Rajesh Juneja and associated with Regal Shoes; Navneet Juneja, son of Harish Kumar and proprietor of Shiv General Store; Deshbandhu Jain, son of Prakash Chand Jain and proprietor of Bindu General Store; Ashok Kumar Jain, proprietor of Footlook Footwear; and Priyanshu Kalra, son of Kailash Chand and proprietor of Kailash Boot House.

For street vendors and small business owners affected by the fire, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each for Meena Kumari, wife of Tek Chand and proprietor of Anand Fruit Juice, and Mukesh, son of Ashok Kumar and proprietor of Sehgal Fruit Juice. Additionally, Annapurna Bhojanalaya (Roti-Parantha Cart), Gaurav, son of Satish Kumar and proprietor of Kitchen on Wheels, and Neeraj, son of Darshan Singh, who operates a clothing kiosk and coconut water stall, will each receive financial assistance of ₹50,000 from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Saini informed that the Urban Local Bodies Department is conducting a detailed assessment of the losses caused by the fire. Based on its report, the state government will take further decisions regarding additional assistance and compensation to ensure maximum possible relief to affected traders. He noted that the market is an old commercial area and stressed the need for greater vigilance to prevent such incidents. Necessary measures would also be taken to avoid recurrence of similar incidents in the future, he added.

The Chief Minister also commended the Fire Services Department, administrative officers and employees for their prompt response. He said rescue and relief operations began immediately after the fire broke out, with fire brigade personnel working continuously for nearly six to seven hours to bring the blaze under control. Administrative and fire service teams remained at the site until the fire was completely extinguished. Later, Saini visited the residences of Aman Kumar, Rohit Khurana and Kapil Kumar, who lost their lives in the incident, and personally conveyed his condolences to their families. Former Minister Manish Kumar Grover, MLA Mahant Balak Nath, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rajpurohit and other officials were also present during the visit.
