Haryana CM Unveils Rs 7.58 Cr Projects at Guru Jambheshwari Univ

Says State Aims to Become Global Knowledge Economy Hub

Chandigarh, July 12

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said the state government is working to establish Haryana as a world-class knowledge economy hub by reshaping its education ecosystem on the principles of “Re-design, Re-imagine and Re-invest.” He said comprehensive reforms aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) have been implemented across state universities and affiliated colleges.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while addressing a function at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 7.58 crore.

The projects include the foundation stone of a girls’ hostel to be constructed at a cost of Rs 6 crore, the inauguration of the Nursing Department building built at a cost of Rs 1.40 crore, and the Khejarli Mahabalidan Smriti Shilp and Mata Amrita Devi Circle developed at a cost of Rs 18 lakh. The Chief Minister also announced that the Nursing Block would be named after Chaudhary Bhajan Lal.

GJUST Honoured with NEP Implementation Excellence Award

Saini said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National Education Policy has been implemented across the country with the vision of making India a global knowledge superpower. He said Guru Jambheshwar University has set a benchmark in implementing the NEP and has been conferred the NEP Implementation Excellence Award 2025 (Gold Category) by the Haryana Government.

He said universities must emerge as centres of research and innovation while serving as a bridge between local industries and global technologies to help realise the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047. He also urged people to support the Prime Minister’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, saying the teachings of Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj and Mata Amrita Devi continue to inspire environmental conservation.

The Chief Minister said higher education should not be limited to awarding degrees but should create an ethical, socially conscious and technologically competent society rooted in Indian culture and committed to environmental protection.

Nature Conservation Integral to India’s Culture

Highlighting the legacy of Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj and the Bishnoi community, Saini said India’s civilisation has always maintained a close relationship with nature. He said Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj launched an environmental movement in the 15th century that was far ahead of its time by recognising nature as the foundation of life and public welfare.

He said the 29 principles propounded by Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj remain relevant even today as they promote environmental balance, biodiversity, compassion towards animals, water conservation, cleanliness, self-restraint and ethical living.

Focus on Skill-Based Education and Research

The Chief Minister said skill-based education remains one of the government’s top priorities, with Haryana preparing its youth for emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, green technologies, the semiconductor ecosystem, cyber security, data analytics and robotics.

He said the government has introduced a Startup Policy and several skill development initiatives while strengthening research through the Haryana State Research Fund, which was established last year with an allocation of Rs 20 crore. During 2025-26, more than 350 research proposals were received from teachers and students across the state, of which nearly 90 have been shortlisted. An additional Rs 20 crore has been allocated to the fund in the current financial year.

Saini also said the government has decided to develop government colleges as Model Sanskriti Colleges, with 22 such colleges established so far, to ensure access to quality higher education closer to students’ homes.

Education Integrated with Skill Development

The Chief Minister said the government is integrating education with skill development from school to university level through initiatives such as the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) in schools, the PAHAL Scheme in colleges, incubation centres in universities and industry-linked skill training through MoUs with technical institutions.

He said that under the Haryana Skill Development Mission, more than 1.56 lakh youth have received skill training, helping them become self-reliant.

Education Minister Highlights Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj’s Legacy

Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda said India has been guided by several saints who inspired society through their teachings. He said Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj led a pioneering movement for environmental conservation, for which many people made the ultimate sacrifice, and stressed the need to adopt those values in daily life. He also said Guru Jambheshwar University has established several benchmarks in education and technology.

Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa, MLAs Savitri Jindal, Randhir Panihar and Vinod Bhayana, Mayor Praveen Popli, former Minister Dr. Kamal Gupta, former MLA Dura Ram, Swami Sachidanand Acharya, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
