Barnala, March 29
A house being lifted high with a jack collapsed this morning in village Farwahi of Barnala district. Four workers got trapped under the debris, while three have died. Efforts are underway to rescue the fourth from the rubble.
Farwahi resident resident Vishal Goyal, son of late Jivan Kumar, had been raising his house with a jack for several days. Around 4:15 AM today, the structure suddenly collapsed due to a falling lanter, burying the four workers inside under debris.
Villagers gathered in large numbers at the spot. After strenuous efforts, they pulled out three workers and rushed them to Civil Hospital Barnala in separate ambulances. However, doctors declared them dead on arrival. Locals are still removing debris to rescue the fourth worker. The workers are said to be from the Moga area, and their identities have yet to be confirmed.
