IKEA to Foray into Haryana Market; ₹3,500-Crore Gurugram Project to Create 10,000 Jobs

Chandigarh, July 8

Swedish furniture giant IKEA is set to strengthen its presence in Haryana with plans to expand its investments in the state, backed by the Haryana government’s assurance of full support for its upcoming projects.

The commitment came during a meeting between Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and a high-level IKEA India delegation led by CEO Patrik Antoni at Sant Kabir Kutir in Chandigarh. During the meeting, Antoni thanked the Haryana government for facilitating timely approvals and supporting the execution of the company’s projects. He said Haryana’s investor-friendly policies, proactive governance and industry-friendly ecosystem have encouraged IKEA to explore additional investment opportunities in the state.

Responding positively, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment to providing a seamless business environment and directed officials to extend all possible support for IKEA’s expansion plans in Haryana. IKEA’s flagship Gurugram project, involving an investment of around ₹3,500 crore, is expected to generate more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. Spread across nearly 10 acres, the integrated development will include a retail store, office spaces and community-oriented facilities. The store is expected to open next year, and Antoni invited the Chief Minister to inaugurate it upon completion.

Saini expressed confidence that the project would further strengthen Haryana’s position as a preferred destination for global investors. He also presented a copy of the Bhagavad Gita to the IKEA India CEO as a gesture of goodwill. The Haryana government is also working with IKEA to ensure the availability of skilled manpower through its skill development initiatives so that local youth can benefit from the employment opportunities generated by the project. The foundation stone of the Gurugram store was laid by former Haryana Chief Minister and Union Minister Manohar Lal.
