Man Held for Murdering Woman in Canada

Sangrur police have succeeded in arresting the accused who fled after murdering a girl in Canada. In this regard, Sangrur district’s SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal informed that on October 20, 2025, a girl from Sangrur was murdered in Canada, which has been solved by Sangrur police.

Providing detailed information in this regard, SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal said that Inderjeet Singh, son of resident Prem Basti Sangrur, stated in his application that both his daughters, Gursimar Kaur and Amanpreet Kaur, live in Canada. Amanpreet Kaur lived on rent in Toronto East York and worked as a personal support worker in a hospital.

3/4 days before October 20, 2025, his younger daughter Amanpreet Kaur called and informed that Manpreet Singh, resident of Baslipur, Police Station Gorkhnath (Gohlan), District Lakhimpur Kheri (U.P.), who lives in Canada, used to often travel with her on his taxi. Manpreet was pressuring Amanpreet to marry him.

However, Amanpreet clearly refused to marry. SSP said that on October 21, 2025, Inderjeet Singh could not contact his daughter Amanpreet Kaur. He asked his elder daughter Gursimar Kaur to find out about it. It was found out that Amanpreet Kaur had left her residence for work but did not reach there. In this regard, Gursimar Kaur reported her missing to the Canada police.

On October 21, 2025, Gursimar Kaur received a call from Canada police that Amanpreet Kaur’s body was found near Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.According to Canada police information, the taxi driver, whose name is Manpreet Singh, aged about 27 years, has fled to India after murdering Amanpreet Kaur.

Sartaj Singh Chahal further informed that Manpreet Singh called Inderjeet Singh’s elder daughter Gursimar Kaur on WhatsApp and Instagram, threatening her and her family living in Sangrur with murder. Then, in the last days of October 2025, he reached this family’s home in Sangrur and gave death threats. After which, Inderjeet Singh installed CCTV cameras outside his house.Manpreet Singh again came outside Inderjeet Singh’s house on the night of November 30, 2025, and January 10, 2026, took selfies and photos of the cameras installed outside the house, and fled from the spot.

After which, Manpreet Singh sent those selfies and photos to his elder daughter Gursimar Kaur to scare and threaten her, and threatened to viral objectionable photos of the younger deceased daughter Amanpreet Kaur Saini’s.

Later, Manpreet Singh created a fake account on Instagram, made objectionable photos of Amanpreet Kaur, and viral them with obscene comments.On the basis of Inderjeet Singh’s statement, Case No. 02 dated 14.01.2026 u/s 333,351(3),79 BNS, 67A, 66C IT Act 2000 was registered at Police Station Cyber Crime Sangrur against Manpreet Singh son of Late Kabal Singh resident Baslipur (Gohlan), District Lakhimpuri (U.P.), and investigation was taken up. Under the able guidance of SP (D) Dwinder Attri, under the supervision of DSP (D) Daljeet Singh Virk, teams were formed by Incharge CIA Sangrur Inspector Sandeep Singh and SHO Police Station Cyber Crime Sangrur Inspector Harjeet Kaur, and through technical investigation, the accused Manpreet Singh was arrested on January 15, 2026. They said that interrogation of the accused is ongoing, and more important revelations are expected.
