Govt Polytechnic Sonipat Opens Admissions for 690 Diploma Seats; Apply Online by June 10

The admission process for engineering and non-engineering diploma courses for the academic session 2026-27 has commenced at Government Polytechnic Institute, Sonipat. Interested students can complete their online registration on https://gpsonipat.ac.in/ for admission until June 10.

Sharing details, Principal Pravesh Sangwan said that the institute is offering admission to a total of 690 seats across various diploma programmes. These include Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Finance, Accounts and Auditing (FAA), Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering.

According to the seat matrix, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Finance, Accounts and Auditing, and Instrumentation and Control Engineering have 60 seats each. Computer Engineering has 90 seats, while Mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering offer 120 seats each.

Highlighting a key development, the principal informed that a new branch of environmental engineering has been introduced from the current academic session with an intake capacity of 60 students. The programme is expected to create promising career opportunities in environmental protection, water resource management, pollution control, waste management and sustainable development sectors.

He said the institute is equipped with modern laboratories, experienced faculty members, and industry-oriented technical training facilities. Over the years, many students have secured jobs in reputed companies through campus placement drives conducted by the institute. Sangwan further stated that students can also benefit from various scholarship schemes offered by the Central and State Governments. Under the AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme, eligible girl students can receive scholarships of up to Rs 50,000 per year. Eligible male students can avail benefits under the Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme. Additionally, eligible Scheduled Caste (SC) and Backward Class (BC) students can receive fee reimbursement under the post-matric scholarship scheme.

Appealing to students and parents, the Principal urged them to complete the admission registration process within the stipulated timeframe and take advantage of quality technical education and career-oriented training opportunities available at the institute. To facilitate applicants, an Admission Help Desk has also been established on the institute campus to provide guidance and assistance throughout the admission process.
