Door-to-Door Enumeration Set to Begin June 25 to Update Electoral Rolls
AMRITSAR, India — Election officials in Punjab will launch a comprehensive, statewide door-to-door voter verification campaign this week to update and clean the state’s electoral rolls.
The initiative, part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 program, will run from June 25 through July 24, 2026. During the monthlong drive, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households across the region to verify existing voter details, register new eligible citizens, and collect official enumeration forms.
Amritsar Machinery Primed for Revision
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh announced on Monday that the local election machinery is fully prepared to execute the intensive field exercise.
Amritsar district spans 11 assembly constituencies with a total electorate of 1,973,071 voters. Out of these, 1,749,155 voters—representing 88.65% of the district’s electorate—have already been mapped, according to data shared by the election office.
Focus on Accuracy and Inclusion
District officials have completed thorough reviews of field machinery preparedness and implementation protocols. Staff and field officers have undergone specialized training to ensure the roll revision is seamless.
The administration is focusing on two primary goals during the drive:
- Total Inclusion: Ensuring no eligible voter is left off the electoral rolls.
- Data Integrity: Ensuring no ineligible entries remain on the registry.
To support the field teams, the district is launching targeted information, education, and communication campaigns to boost public awareness. Singh urged all eligible citizens to cooperate with visiting BLOs and provide accurate personal data to ensure the creation of error-free electoral rolls.
