The event follows directives from the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, alongside instructions from the Punjab State Legal Services Authority. Led by District and Sessions Judge Jatinder Kaur, who also chairs the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Amritsar, the initiative aims to reduce professional stress and promote physical well-being within the judicial system.
Judicial Community Unites for Wellness
The event brought together an array of local judicial leadership under the coordination of DLSA Secretary Amardeep Singh Bains. Prominent attendees practicing alongside their administrative teams included:
- Senior Judiciary: Additional District and Sessions Judge Parinder Singh.
- Magistracy: Judicial Magistrates First Class Karan Aggarwal, Jasmine, Harjinder Singh, and Kirandeep Kaur.
- Legal Support Teams: Court administrative personnel, panel advocates, and staff members from the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System.
Integrating Mind and Body Practice
Guided by a certified yoga expert, the legal professionals learned a sequence of physical postures (asanas) and specialized breathing exercises (pranayama). The session focused on practical techniques designed to counteract the sedentary nature and high-stress environment of legal casework.
The instructor emphasized that the ancient practice offers essential tools for maintaining physical health, mental clarity, and emotional equilibrium amidst rigorous daily court schedules.
At the conclusion of the session, the participating officers and staff took a collective pledge to formally integrate yoga into their standard daily routines to build a healthier, more balanced, and stress-free work environment.
