New Delhi, March 26
The Government of India on Thursday issued an order granting a special railway concession to awardees of the Sena, Nau Sena, and Vayu Sena Medal (gallantry) awards.
As per the order, these gallantry awardees are entitled to complimentary lifetime travel in First Class, 2 AC, and AC Chair Car on Indian Railways, along with one companion. The concession also extends to their spouses (widows/widowers until remarriage) and to the parents of unmarried posthumous awardees.
The decision is aimed at providing long‑term recognition and welfare support to personnel honoured for acts of gallantry in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Implementation of the concession will follow existing rules of reservation and seat availability on Indian Railways.
