ITI Gohana Hosts Anti-Drug Drive, Youth Urged to ‘Quit Drugs, Move Ahead’

NCB officials spread awareness on drug abuse, share confidential helpline numbers for reporting trafficking

Gohana (Sonipat), May 27

In a major push against drug abuse, the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) organized a large-scale awareness programme at Government ITI Gohana on Wednesday, urging students to stay away from narcotics and actively support the campaign for a drug-free society.

The one-day programme, held under the state-wide anti-drug awareness campaign, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and social representatives. Addressing the gathering, HSNCB Awareness and Rehabilitation In-charge Sub-Inspector Dr. Ashok Kumar Verma cautioned youth about the devastating impact of drugs on individuals, families, and society.

Delivering a strong message of “Quit Drugs, Move Ahead,” Dr. Verma said drug addiction often begins as experimentation but gradually destroys a person’s future. “If drugs were beneficial, a mother would never hesitate to give them to her child. Drugs only lead towards destruction,” he remarked while interacting with students.

He emphasized that the youth are the backbone of the nation and called upon students to become ambassadors of the anti-drug movement. He also informed participants about mechanisms to report drug trafficking and illegal narcotics activities confidentially. Students were told they could share information related to drug smuggling through the NCB National Helpline Number 1933, the online complaint portal NCB MANAS Portal, or Haryana NCB Helpline Number 90508-91508. Officials assured that the identity of informants would remain completely confidential.

The programme concluded with students and faculty members taking a pledge to support the creation of a drug-free society and to spread awareness against substance abuse in their communities. Presiding over the event, ITI Principal Ajay Khokhar said educational institutions have a crucial role not only in imparting education but also in shaping responsible citizens. He appreciated the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau for conducting such awareness initiatives among youth.

Prominent attendees included Azad Hind Deshbhakt Morcha Chief Patron Azad Singh Dangi, General Secretary Satbir Podiya, instructors Rampal, Paramveer, Shubh Kumar, Govind, Rajeev, and other faculty members and students.
