Amritsar, April 20, 2026

Highlighting the neglect of the Jandiala Guru constituency during the previous Congress government, Punjab Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO stated that the then MLA from Jandiala Guru, Sukhwinder Singh Danny Bandala, failed to raise even a single issue of the constituency in the Vidhan Sabha during his tenure. Due to lack of proper representation, the constituency lagged behind in terms of development.

The Minister expressed these views after inaugurating various road development works in different villages of the Jandiala Guru constituency. He said that while the Bhagwant Mann government is carrying out development works across the state, special grants have also been released for Jandiala Guru constituency. He added that development works are progressing at a rapid pace and the constituency will soon emerge as a leading constituency in the state.

He further stated that the main objective of these projects is to strengthen rural connectivity and provide convenient transportation facilities to the residents. He informed that road construction and special repair works worth approximately ₹1.91 crore will be undertaken in the constituency.

Giving details, the Minister said that in village Tangra, interlocking and missing link roads measuring 2.75 km will be constructed at a cost of ₹93.85 lakh, with a width of 10 feet. Similarly, in Adda Tangra, interlocking roads measuring 0.330 km will be constructed at a cost of ₹14.63 lakh.

He further informed that a 1.71 km long road from village Jand to Malkpur will be constructed at a cost of ₹54.77 lakh. Additionally, special repair of a 1.45 km long road from village Thathian to Sukhhewal will be carried out at a cost of ₹27.88 lakh. Both roads will have a width of 10 feet.

S. Harbhajan Singh ETO stated that the works have already been allotted to the concerned contractors and a target of completing them within six months has been set. He directed officials to ensure that there is no laxity in execution, emphasizing that public funds must be utilized strictly in public interest.

He also appealed to the public to report any shortcomings in development works so that immediate corrective action can be taken. He stressed that all projects must be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Punjab Government, the Minister stated that strengthening rural infrastructure remains a top priority. He added that these road works will significantly improve connectivity, provide relief to residents, and accelerate overall development of the region.
