Mansa, June 23
In a major crackdown on illegal arms, Mansa Police have arrested six persons and recovered five illegal weapons along with 15 live cartridges from their possession.
Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff of Mansa carried out the operation under the directions of Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav and DIG Bathinda Range Harjit Singh.
Sharing details, SSP Mansa Bhagirath Singh Meena said that the CIA team intercepted the accused during patrolling near the Mansa Pashu Mandi. The operation was led by CIA Incharge Balkaur Singh and Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurwinder Singh, under the supervision of DSPs Pushpinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh.
The arrested accused have been identified as Satinderjit Singh alias Gosha, Sukhpal Singh, Dilpreet Singh alias Kalu, Rajwinder Singh alias Raju, Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, and Navpreet Singh alias Navi.
Police recovered four .32 bore pistols along with 13 live cartridges, one 12 bore country-made pistol (desi katta) with two live cartridges, and three motorcycles from their possession.
A case has been registered as FIR No. 93 dated June 23, 2026, under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at City-1 Police Station, Mansa.
SSP Meena said that the accused will be produced before a court to seek police remand for further investigation. He added that during interrogation, important revelations regarding the source of the illegal weapons are expected.
