Govt fees and facilitation charges for key citizen services waived from July 1 to September 30
Bathinda, July 4
To facilitate the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and enable citizens to obtain required documents without any financial burden, the Punjab Government has decided to waive government fees and facilitation charges for several key citizen services from July 1 to September 30, 2026. The information was shared by District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Dhiman.
Sharing details, the District Election Officer said that, to support the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, government fees and facilitation charges for several important citizen services will remain completely waived for the next three months. He said that the services covered under this exemption include the issuance of caste certificates, residence certificates, new birth certificates, correction of errors in birth certificates, and duplicate Class 10 and Class 12 certificates, among other key services.
He further clarified that this benefit will be uniformly available until September 30, 2026, for services availed through Sewa Kendras, Doorstep Delivery, and the online Citizen Services Portal. The Deputy Commissioner further said that, as a result of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls being carried out by the Election Commission, a large number of citizens are required to submit residence, caste, birth, and educational documents to the concerned authorities. He said that the primary objective of this people-centric decision taken by the Punjab Government is to ensure that no citizen has to bear any financial burden while obtaining the required certificates during the SIR process.
The District Election Officer appealed to the residents of the district to make maximum use of this special concession provided by the Punjab Government during the stipulated period.
