The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has completed all preparations for the Punjab State Civil Services (PCS) Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination scheduled to be held on December 7. PPSC Chairman, Major General Vinayak Saini (Retd.), informed that a total of 85,192 candidates had applied for this examination.
Chairman said that keeping the interests of candidates in mind, the Commission has made arrangements to conduct the examination in a fair and transparent manner. A total of 165 examination centers have been established across five districts of Punjab, including Chandigarh. These centers are located in Chandigarh, Patiala, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali), Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Sangrur, and have been divided into 222 blocks. He added that the Punjab government has appointed senior officers at the secretary level as in-charge supervisors for each district, along with additional observers for monitoring.
PPSC Secretary Charanjit Singh stated that as per the previously announced schedule, the examination will be conducted in two sessions — from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The first paper will be of General Studies, while the second will be the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). He clarified that the CSAT paper will be qualifying in nature, and candidates will have to score a minimum of 40 percent marks to pass it.
Charanjit Singh further mentioned that full security arrangements have been made at all exam centers, including CCTV cameras, videography, biometric verification, and signal jammers. He said that for the convenience of candidates, admit cards and exam instructions were uploaded on the Commission’s website about ten days before the examination date.
