Chandigarh, Dec 10
The Haryana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, approved amendments to the Haryana Civil Service (Executive Branch) Rules, 2008. The revised regulations will be known as the Haryana Civil Service (Executive Branch) Amendment Rules, 2025.
Under the amended structure, the HCS Main Examination will now comprise six papers instead of the existing four, with a total weightage of 600 marks. The English and Hindi papers will each carry 100 marks, while four General Studies papers — also of 100 marks each — have been introduced.
The government clarified that the Preliminary Examination pattern remains unchanged. It will continue to serve as a screening test with a total of 200 marks. Similarly, the personality test will carry 75 marks, as before.
The latest amendment seeks to bring the HCS examination structure more in line with that of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), allowing for a broader and more comprehensive assessment of candidates.
